How Remedial Therapy Works
Remedial therapy works by addressing the underlying causes of muscular-skeletal issues rather than simply treating the symptoms. This is achieved through a combination of deep muscle therapy, trigger point therapy and stretching.
- Deep tissue massage is a form a remedial massage used to target specific areas of tension or pain in the body. It involves applying pressure to release knotted muscles and improve circulation, allowing the body to heal itself. This helps to release tension and improve flexibility.
- Other techniques I include - myofascial release, cupping, Hyperton-X and Emmett technique.

Remedial Therapy vs Traditional Massages
Remedial therapy often gets confused with other types of massage therapy such as Swedish massage and relaxation massages. However, it is an entirely separate practice and works in a different way to these.
While relaxation massages are designed to alleviate stress and provide generalised relief, remedial therapy specifically targets particular areas of tension or pain in the body. It uses deep muscle massage to release tight knots, improve circulation, restore range of motion and reduce pain. Remedial therapy is more targeted in its approach and works to address the root cause of muscular-skeletal issues rather than simply promoting relaxation.
